Our accessories are pretty user friendly. Upon collection, we’ll run through the set-up, pack down instructions, and we’ll also be available to help if there are any issues on your journey. Please allow at least 30 minutes for a run down with our equipment before we get you on the road, depending on your vehicle.

Yes — a refundable security bond applies to all hires.
The amount depends on the insurance tier you choose (sealed-road vs off-road). It’s held on a credit card at pickup or deposited and released after return once the vehicle and gear are checked.

Our 4WD rental vehicles are located in Christchurch and must be returned to our Christchurch depot but, we can arrange an alternative location at request for a fee prior to pick up or drop off. Just let us know and we’ll see what we can do!

We use a secure payment provider called Stripe which allows an easy online payment method via credit card or Debit card, there is an additional 2.7% processing fee in addition to the hire. We currently accept Mastercard, Visa and American Express. Alternatively, we have Eftpos or direct debit via invoice available for payment on collection. Processing fees are non-refundable.

Our Canopy Camper is a certified fully self contained vehicle for up to 4 people (Sleeps 2) and is equipped to freedom camp in New Zealand.

Yes, at Phat Rentals we specialize in off road vehicles. All our vehicles are equipped for off road adventuring.

Please see our off-road policy and your chosen insurance tier. Some tracks/conditions are restricted; ask us for approved routes.

Refunds are not granted for early returns of our rental vehicles, a refund may be provided in extenuating circumstances and at the sole discretion of Phat Rentals. Feel free to get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

Yes. All our vehicles are hired on a minimum 2-day hire term. If available, our vehicles may be hired for a shorter hire term, but a day rate will be applied for any hire term less than 24 hours. Give us a call to discuss options. 

Yes, the minimum age to hire our vehicles is 21.
